When Raja Raghuvanshi traveled to the hills of Shillong with his new wife, Sonam, friends believed they were celebrating the start of a joyful chapter. What first appeared to be a missing person case soon became far more serious when his body was discovered in a remote gorge outside Shillong. Police allege that Sonam coordinated with several individuals who were promised payment to harm Raja, sharing his location during the trip so they could intercept him.

Sonam Raghuvanshi was arrested on June 8 after investigators gathered digital evidence linking her to the alleged conspiracy. The legal process is still ongoing as authorities continue examining the roles of all involved. For Raja’s family, the tragedy has left deep grief, turning what was once a celebration of marriage into a painful reminder of betrayal and loss.
