I never imagined my own child would take me to court.

After my husband passed away, his will left everything to me, with the plan that our 23-year-old son would inherit it later. I wanted to keep the house and savings secure — it was all I had left.

But my son believed the money was already his.

When I told him he had to wait, he accused me of stealing from him. Soon after, I was served with legal papers. My own son was suing me.

Sitting in that courtroom was unbearable. I looked at the boy I once tucked in at night, now standing across from me like a stranger. He argued I didn’t need the money and that he deserved it now.

Then the judge spoke.

He made it clear the will was valid — the inheritance would only pass on after my death.

But what he said next hurt even more:

“You haven’t just lost a case. You’re losing each other.”

My son lowered his head… and started crying.

So did I.

Because in that moment, it wasn’t about money anymore — it was about everything we were breaking apart.
