M60 crash RECAP as traffic held and delays of 75 minutes reported – latest updates

There were long delays on the M60 motorway in Greater Manchester following a crash today (Tuesday, August 4).

Photographs showed major delays on the anticlockwise carriageway between Junction 25 (Brinnington and Junction 24 (Denton Island).

Congestion was reported back towards Stockport, with the crash – which involved a number of vehicles – first reported shortly before 3pm.

A National Highways spokesperson said: “Traffic has been released on M60 anticlockwise near Denton between J25 & J24 following a multi vehicle collision. Vehicles involved have been safely moved to the hard shoulder. Residual delays of 75 mins and 5 miles of congestion on the approach. Have a safe onward journey.”

Inrix, the traffic data company, said: “Queueing traffic due to earlier accident on M60 anticlockwise between J25 A560 Crookilley Way (Brinnington) and J24 M57 (Denton Island). Congestion to Junction 2 (Cheadle Roscoes Roundabout). All lanes have now reopened.”
